The real ring - printed, cast, and then molded in platinum!
So this was a few weeks back! The ring came out GREAT. Very smooth, and little to no porosity in the material whatsoever.
From what I understand, the man who did the work for me printed the CAD file in casting jewelry wax, made the mold, and then poured the molten platinum.
Notice how there is the nub at the base of the band? That's where the material flows in and then forms the shape.
SO COOL!
The finish is almost matte... it's super smooth, but definitely not too shiny. I attempted to shine it up a bit myself, but chickened out as I wanted to make sure I didn't sand/polish too hard.
